RICE'S LABOR DAY JEEP RUN

We spent our Labor Day in the Hualapai Mountains. We went up to the Gold King Mansion. This mansion was built in early 1929 for the mine foreman and his wife to live in while supervising the mine operations. After the market crashed in 1929 the mine was abandoned along with this house. It still stands in really good condition today, and is only visited by the local jeepers and ATVers. We made it up the trail/road pretty smoothly and only choose to walk the last mile due to the road being washed out pretty bad by our recent monsoon activity. Kenny says he probably could have made it closer but Nicole and I voted on walking! We had a great time and the weather was cooled by the cloud cover. It was probably only 90 degrees and we had a great breeze!! We only saw one other group heading up as we were coming down, they were on ATV's. We did see a rattlesnake right when we got started, that was creepy, but we forged ahead! (If you click on the pictures above, you can go to our web photos and see them close up.)
