Halloween 2008 a GREAT NIGHT!
We went to Light Night at Kingman Christian Church as we do every year and had a GREAT TIME!!! We took Nicole's friend Noah (dressed as David) this year and he had FUN too! As you can see from the pictures, even the adults get involved! That is truely what makes Light Night such a huge success every year!!! Nicole won 2 cakes in the cake walk and got an award for most original costume! She is a Greek Statue! Her idea...they studied the Greeks in Social Studies this year and she thought up the statue from that! Also pictured are Nicole and Kenny's Pumpkins from this year! Kenny's is the creepy one and Nicole's pumpkin is sick with the chicken pox! CUTE!!!

OUR LAST TRIP TO LAKE MEAD
Okay ... I am not a big conservationist or anything, oh sure I recycle our soda cans, and turn the lights off when I leave the room, and I turn of the water while I brush my teeth. But a shocking statistic for all of you, we have been here a short 8 years and we have watched Miles and Miles of water ways close up on the ever shrinking Beautiful Lake Mead!!! In 2000 the water level was 1,215ft and today in October of 2008 it is at 1,105ft!!! Drought levels are considered to be anything 1,175 or lower! Please remember to conserve. The minority CAN change the majority if we continue to remind people, turn off the hose, turn off the faucet, only do full loads of laundry, only do full loads of dishes...fix that drippy faucet. We LOVE Lake Mead!! California, Nevada and Arizona all NEED Lake Mead. Thanks for letting me vent!! These are my opinions....what's yours?
On A Good Note Choir
Wow!!! It is choir season again and whew! are we busy!! Sorry it has been so long since I posted anything! The kids did their annual Andy Devine Days Parade here in Kingman! Fun as usual and HOT! Now they are in full Christmas Mode "Ho HO HO" Their Christmas performances will consist of the Very Merry Parade of Lights, here in Kingman (downtown) and they will also perform at 2 local Churches as we have in the past. Their choir performances at Christmas are always wonderful! Julie really knows how to pick songs that show off our talented group!!

RICE'S LABOR DAY JEEP RUN
We spent our Labor Day in the Hualapai Mountains. We went up to the Gold King Mansion. This mansion was built in early 1929 for the mine foreman and his wife to live in while supervising the mine operations. After the market crashed in 1929 the mine was abandoned along with this house. It still stands in really good condition today, and is only visited by the local jeepers and ATVers. We made it up the trail/road pretty smoothly and only choose to walk the last mile due to the road being washed out pretty bad by our recent monsoon activity. Kenny says he probably could have made it closer but Nicole and I voted on walking! We had a great time and the weather was cooled by the cloud cover. It was probably only 90 degrees and we had a great breeze!! We only saw one other group heading up as we were coming down, they were on ATV's. We did see a rattlesnake right when we got started, that was creepy, but we forged ahead! (If you click on the pictures above, you can go to our web photos and see them close up.)

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!
Nicole is back to school and now at the Middle School (in the old days they called it Junior High). She is in 6th grade and is really enjoying it so far!! Nicole attended the first annual "Welcome Back" dance with some friends and they all had a great time! She has 6 main classes, Science, Language Arts, Math, Spanish, Social Studies, and P.E. She will also have an "exploritory" class (old days "elective"). She has requested either ART, Bell Choir, Bridges or Chess Club....she won't know until some time in September which one she will have. It has been fun getting ready for middle school and adding just a few more elements to our already crazy schedule!! She is still on the swim team (it is year round) and she is starting back to choir on September 2nd. Nicole will also be in a Christmas Play being produced by another local church here in Kingman...I will give you more details as we get them. Practices for this play are on Sundays after church....there goes football season!!! Another Fun Year is bound to be had by all!!!

Lake Mead is GREAT as usual!!
We went to Lake Mead with some friends and we all had a great time! Nicole and Tristan really had fun tubing! Tristan has decided knee boarding is crazy, but Nicole is really getting the hang of turning around! If you look really closely to the picture of Nicole standing on our boat, there is a black dot in the water behind our boat....THAT IS KATRINA!!! Yep...she is quite a water dog!!

We have had alot of fun at the swim meets this summer!! We are getting the hang of it now that Nicole has been on the Dolphins for a year!! Here are a few shots of her and her buddies at some meets this summer!! I'm sure you all know how difficult it is to get good swim shots....so most of these are stills....I stink at action shots....unless of course you like a good shot of someones foot!!![Posted by Picasa](http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif)

Okay...I have found that blogging is the way to share pictures! It will be much easier for me to post here and you can all visit and see whats going on with the Rice's!! Thank you Jeff & Jody, Baskin family and Joel & Crystal for paving the way for me to attempt this!!! I tried to email pictures from our Disney World Vacation and some pictures of Nicole at swim meets and found that to be a pain....so....I have created "Rice Adventures" I will try to keep up, although I am not as gifted as Jeff at writing, I will try!! Please forgive in advance all typos! and Let's GO!!
